(AhlulBayt News Agency) - The UNICEF has estimated over 1,000 children have been missing during recent floods in the country.
According to VOG, a UNICEF spokesman Shakoor Khan said during a workshop organized in Islamabad with the collaboration of United Nations Children’s Fund and the NDMA that several incidents of missing children in flood-hit areas have yet not been reported due to various reasons.
Relief agencies have registered a very less number of missing children. Aid agencies working in flood-hit areas have reported five hundred incidents of missing children. These children are facing various kinds of threats like child labor or sexual harassment. According to some statistics of the NDMA, around 129 missing children have been recovered and sent to their respective families while whereabouts of only 17 children have yet to be traced. Whereas, NDMA is still working to compile complete data in this regard.
